The Day 2 of Google I/O was a great success with the official announcement of the new Android 2.2, codename ‘Froyo’. Android 2.2 sets a new standard to mobile platforms today and we can safely say that Google has finally surpassed Apple in mobile OS. Though it was announced during the keynote on the 20th, unfortunately it was not released on the same day. Google is yet to reveal its release date and which devices will be getting them. However, it is safe to say that Nexus One users will be their first priority to push this update.

In November of last year, Verizon decided to bump up the Early Termination Fee(ETF) to $350. Many thought this was an outrageous decision for Verizon and hoping that that would be the end of it. However, it seems like Verizon now has an apprentice of their own. AT&T has also decided to bump up the ETF to $325 for all smartphones. AT&T mentioned that this will take effect starting next month. As we are very aware, HTC has been releasing wonderful products one after the other in the past two months. Though they have been focusing on a powerful smartphone such as HTC HD2, Evo 4G, Droid and Incredible, they have announced an entry level Android handset, Wildfire. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be receiving new maps via downloadable content starting June 3rd for 360 users, and at an as of yet unannounced date for the PS3 and the PC. The new maps are scheduled for release two months after the Stimulus Package, which contained 3 brand new maps as well as two remakes, and will most likely cost the same, $15.

Starting with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011, gamers will no longer have any reason to purchase used EA sports games. Beginning with that game, and then extending to every other sports franchise, EA plans to include a code with the purchase of the new games to allow players to play online multiplayer and use downloaded content.

Two years after the release and success of Little Big Planet, Media Molecule just officially announced it’s sequel. The game that relied almost entirely on user created content is getting upgraded with new features to be released later this year, still for the PS3 only. Following on the commercial success of Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft has announced the name for the upcoming spinoff that follows Ezio Auditore in a vendetta against the Templars. It will be called Assassin’s Creed II: Brotherheood and is set to take place in Rome.

It’s been just over three years since we’ve last seen a release of a game from the Medal of Honor series, and on the 12th of October this year, that is set to change. For the first time in the history of the series, we will not be playing in World War II. Instead, the game takes place during a modern day war in Afghanistan.
