Yes indeed, you read that right. Samsonite has a messenger bag on display over in Las Vegas right now, and without much fanfare, they’ve managed to got our eyes glued. It’s a great idea, especially for those who aren’t stuck inside all day, and if you need to make a quick charge to your mobile phone. We wish it could charge more items, like maybe a laptop, but we can’t have everything now can we?
The bag itself is made out of nylon, and can carry one 15.6-inch notebook. As we mentioned above, the bag comes with a standard 12V automotive charging adapter, which means that you can plug in your car charger for your cell phone. The word is that the bag will charge a BlackBerry Curve completely after the bag has had 4.5 hours of exposure to direct sunlight. You could probably keep your gadget plugged into the car adapter through the majority of the day, if you’re one of those people who always need to have your gadget completely charged. But that might not be something you’d want to risk, without some trial.
The solar panel isn’t the only ingredients to the manufacturing of the bag that help Samsonite get some good marks in the environmental department. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is utilized with the nylon to make a sturdy, green-centric bag. Just in time to make a bag like this practical, Samsonite plans to have the messenger available for purchase in the Spring of this year, with a price tag under $100. That’s a great deal, especially considering the help that this bag will provide to many people. It doesn’t look bad either, which is great.
