Maybe a tablet isn’t the way you want to go. For some people, seven inches may just be too much screen real estate to not justify purchasing a notebook or netbook. And if some of those rumors of 1o-inch tablet (or slate) come true, that justification may become even harder to rationalize. So, how does five inches sound? Not too big, not too small. If that sounds good to you, a company called Dynamism has the perfect Mobile Internet Device, or MID, for you.

Over the last week, a lot of tech was unveiled, and over the weekend everyone was going over their notes, videos, and pictures trying to find what gadgets they missed. While Dynamism’s Eking S515 may not be something that stands out on everyone’s radar, it might be perfect for the person who wants something more than a phone, but not as much as a netbook. In the case of the Eking S515, we’ve got an Atom-based processor, with Windows 7 to boot. The body of the machine slides to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, just big enough for (hopefully) everyone’s thumbs.

The Eking S515 is also capable of streaming HD video. It’s also got WiFi, an optical mouse, a built-in mic, a front-facing webcam, and just in case you can’t quite figure out what you’re doing with the thing, or it starts to act a bit wonky, Dynamism is offering unlimited technical support. All of that comes with a price tag of course, and there’s a reason we saved that until last. The Eking S515 will be going for $499.99, but you can get $50 off if you hit up Dynamism’s website and go through the check-out procedure, and enter the promo code EKCESP. That only goes for those who order before January 15 though, so if you’re going to act, act quick. Would we recommend ordering a MID without playing with it first? Probably not. It’s always better to play with something before you bite the bullet and buy it.
