On slow news days like today, we like to present you with something a bit out of the ordinary. The soap light from designers Jieun Kim and Jiyeon Ahn may not be the next item on your want list right away, but if you’re anything like us, the longer you look at it, the more you want to touch it. But please don’t be confused: this soap light will not make you clean.

And we don’t recommend taking it into the shower with you. This is better left in dark areas, where the incandescence can actually do some good. This portable lamp seems to be pretty bright, but we don’t think it can light up an entire room, either. The inductive charger-base is designed to look like a soap dish, giving the full effect that you’re actually using a bar of soap to light your way. But, probably the coolest thing about this soap light, is the fact it utilizes a touch-interface. Utilizing the interface allows you to turn on or off the device, and also dim and brighten the bar of fake soap.

From what we can tell, the soap light is still only available in Japan, but we are sure there are ways to get a hold of this thing, if you really want it. It was actually released back in October, during Tokyo’s Design Tide. We’re sure it was a big success. Right?
