Motorola Has a Render You Should See: Meet the MOTOSPLIT

Leak, Mobile, News, Rumors

It may not necessarily be Motorola who wants you to check out this crazy concoction of a phone and keyboard, but perhaps someone at Motorola. These blurry-cam shots of a render of a future phone are pretty fantastic, and by that, we mean out of this world. Sure, the MOTOSPLIT may not be the craziest phone we’ve ever seen rendered, but it’s pretty close. And that may not be a bad thing.

These renders hit the inbox of Engadget a little while ago, and like us, they’re not 100% certain of the devices likelihood of actually making it to store shelves. Or, in fact, making it past the render stage on someone’s computer. Truth be told, if the speculated specifications are accurate, that Snapdragon processor, 3.7″ screen, toting Google’s Android OS, would be pretty great to use with that sliding, full QWERTY keyboard. Just thinking about the way you’d have to utilize the phone mostly in landscape fashion might turn some people off, but not us. Though, we do have to wonder how comfortable it would be in our hands, for longer periods of time.

Lastly, according to the information received with the images, the MOTOSPLIt is set to land on AT&T in the third quarter of 2010. Considering the other Motorola device, the Backflip, is headed to the wireless carrier, this is not really that long of a shot. The Backflip isn’t that great of a device, so introducing a far superior phone a few months later might be the best idea for AT&T. For AT&T, but not the consumers who purchase the Backflip. Which makes it all the more likely. So, keep your eyes open as we bring you the latest details.
